By the grace of Allah, a committee of SEND professionals has been established in Lajna Imaillah UK. The main purpose is to raise awareness and provide training to ensure the inclusion and support for children and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities within our organisation.

In order to improve our understanding of SEND we provide training material, posters, leaflets and banners that can be used to raise awareness amongst members.

The terminology related to SEND can be overwhelming. We have therefore created a glossary and reference list to make it more accessible for all.

Glossary of Terminology

The SEND Committee has created a glossary of terminology used in relation to Special Educational Needs & Disability. This list should help promote awareness and understanding of some of the conditions, in order to become more inclusive within our Jama’at Structure.

Awareness days and organisation links

A range of useful websites, links and resources are available here for parents and members to access external organisations to access support services for a range of needs.

Parent Support Group

A parent support group is available to encourage discussion, support and networking for children and parents.
The primary purpose of the Lajna Support group is for members to share experiences, support each other and signpost to relevant resources and organisations where further help and guidance is required. We organise coffee mornings and events to facilitate this, we are a diverse and inclusive group and welcome all Lajna parent/carers to join us.

In February 2020, Sadar lajna Imaillah UK has organized a delegation of 5 Lajna SEND professionals to visit ISER. This was to provide bespoke training and support for the school under direction of their management team in a range of area such as inclusion, challenging behavior, SaLT, vocational training and parental partnership.

This amazing project is one which is ongoing. With the main aim of helping and learning from one another to create useful educational aspects to SEND members.
