In January 2016, the then Prime Minister David Cameron commented on the “traditional submissiveness of Muslim women” in the context of radicalisation. His comments were met with a flurry of responses from members of the Press and Media team whose letters to editors and articles on the Lajna blog spoke up for Muslim women. Dozens of responses were published on platforms including the Huffington Post and in Lajna and Jama’at websites.
