A dedicated campaign was planned and put into action for International Women’s Day in March 2019; a series of graphics were posted across all three platforms with the theme of “Muhammad, the Liberator of Women”.

Response to the Westminster Bridge Attack

A few days after the Westminster Bridge attack a vigil was arranged by Women’s March UK on Sunday 26th March 2017 at which members of the press and media team, Shermeen Butt, Sarah Waseem, Saadiyya Khan, Tooba Khokhar, and Ayesha Malik took part alongside Dr Fariha Khan, her young daughters and five other Lajna members.


Response to the ‘Traditionally Submissive’ comments

In January 2016, the then Prime Minister David Cameron commented on the “traditional submissiveness of Muslim women” in the context of radicalisation. His comments were met with a flurry of responses from members of the Press and Media team whose letters to editors and articles on the Lajna blog spoke up for Muslim women.
